DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT & THE DATA STORY, OUR IDEA & THE DATA USED:

CHALLENGE TITLE:
Community open data weather monitoring and alerts system

CHALLENGE BACKGROUND STORY:
Develop a digital solution, underpinned by IoT (Internet of Things) data, which is capable of early detection and alerting for weather and climate related risks to the community.

Eligibility: Use at least one City of Darwin data source.

OUR IDEA:
We plan to give out or build through a workshop program hundreds of telemetric modules that will automatically pop up on a spatial map. Ideally a community workshop program will make basic modules through libraries, schools and holiday programs which doubles as a STEAM project

Once activated these modules will connect to wifi and send data back to a server:

Time | Place (GPS coordinates) | Temperature | Humidity

Network science projects leverage off the enthusiasm and passion of the community effectively providing free labour but more importantly by a mesh of community sensors will connect the community to place and each other, as well as providing real time accurate data.

DATA SETS USED:
